Investigations are underway following the theft of a number of tools including chainsaws, hedge strimmers and power washers in an overnight raid over the weekend, according to An Garda Síochána.
The incident occurred in Co. Meath on Saturday night, July 4, according to local Gardaí.
Taking to social media yesterday, Sunday, July 5, Gardaí based in Co. Meath said:
Slane Gardaí are investigating a break-in last night where a number of chainsaws, hedge strimmers, power washers and garden tools were stolen. All the items have had the Eircode engraved onto them.
Appealing to potential buyers of such items, Gardaí warned:
“Be wary if you are offered any items at a reduced price with identification marking on them.
“If you see any items for sale with an Eircode engraved onto them make sure you do a check on them as there is a possibility that you are buying stolen property.
This could have serious implications for you as the buyer. If the suspects try and erase the Eircode from the items the property will be damaged – so think before you buy the item.
“If you see any items for sale which you suspect are stolen let us know. If you have any information regarding the stolen property last night please give the Gardaí a call on: 046-9036100,” the Garda statement concluded.
