The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed a recall of specific batches of Dunnes Stores Baxter & Greene products.

The authority said the loose salad products and prepack products which contain sesame seeds are being recalled due to the presence of salmonella.

Retailers are being requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.

Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.

The FSAI has also issued recalls for specific batches of sesame seeds and seed mixes due to the presence of salmonella.

A food alert was issued for SuperValu Sesame Seeds 200g pack size with a batch code of 167 and 168 and best before date of May 2027.

While another recall related to SuperValu Sesame Seeds 200g with batch code 167 and 168 and best before date of May 2027.

A separate recall was issued for specific batches of various Gem Pack Sesame Seeds products, including:

Gem Sesame Seeds 1kg batch code: 155, best before: May 2027;
Gem Sesame Seeds 1kg batch code: 177, best before: May 2027;
Sysco Sesame Seeds 1kg batch code: 147, best before: April 2027;
Sysco Sesame Seeds 1kg batch code: 169, best before: May 2027;
Sysco Sesame Seeds 1kg batch code: 189, best before: June 2027;
Sysco Sesame Seeds 1kg batch code: 203, best before: June 2027;
Sesame Seeds 25kg Lot: 32308, best before: March 1, 2027
Sesame Seeds 25kg Lot: 32704, best before: March 1, 2027
Sowans Sesame Seeds 100g batch code: 155, best before: May 2027.

The FSAI has advised consumers not to eat the implicated batches.

Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.

Wholesalers/distributors are asked to contact affected customers and recall the implicated batches and provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their customers. While caterers should not use the implicated batches.

According to the FSAI, people infected with salmonella typically develop symptoms between 12 and 36 hours after infection, but this can range between 6 and 72 hours.

"The most common symptom is diarrhoea, which can sometimes be bloody. Other symptoms may include fever, headache, and abdominal cramps. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days.

"Diarrhoea can occasionally be severe enough to require hospital admission. The elderly, infants, and those with impaired immune systems are more likely to have a severe illness," the authority added.
