Tonight on FarmLand, Michael Hanley, CEO of Lakeland Dairies, will outline his ambitions for the future of the Lakeland/LacPatrick merger.

Hanley will also shed light on the rationalisation process that lies ahead as the new entity – set to become the second-largest processor in the country – awaits approval from competition authorities in Northern Ireland and in the Irish Republic.

Our reporter Sylvester Phelan also gets the views of both Lakeland and LacPatrick suppliers on what they hope to achieve under the terms of the new deal.

Meanwhile, Eimear McGuinness, general manager of Donegal Co-op Livestock Mart, and Ray Doyle, livestock service executive at Irish Co-Operative Organisation Society, will frame their concerns on “skyrocketing” mart insurance hikes and the threat the situation poses to the future viability of the mart business.

Plus, Pearse Kelly, head of Drystock Knowledge Transfer at Teagasc, will discuss the launch of phase two of the Teagasc Green Acres Calf to Beef Programme – on which AgriLand has been announced as the media partner.

AgriLand‘s beef specialist Niall Claffey, along with managing director Cormac Farrelly and Teagasc director Prof. Gerry Boyle, will offer details on phase two of the programme straight from today’s launch at Teagasc Grange in Co. Meath.
