From the prestigious Diageo Baileys Champion Cow to spectacular equestrian displays, artisan food, family entertainment, and the warm welcome for which it is renowned, Virginia Show 2026 promises an unforgettable day out for visitors on Wednesday, August 19.

Celebrating its 83rd year, Virginia Show has earned its place as one of Ireland's premier agricultural events, attracting more than 10,000 visitors each summer to the picturesque showgrounds in Co. Cavan.

This year's theme, 'Harvesting the Future Together - Where Urban Meets Rural', celebrates the strong connection between agriculture, food, sustainability and community, while showcasing the innovation and excellence that continue to shape rural Ireland.

Something happening around every corner

There will be up to 500 competition classes featuring Ireland's finest cattle, sheep, horses, ponies, poultry and dogs, alongside exciting equestrian competitions and a brand-new Side Saddle Riding Display.

The bustling showgrounds will also feature more than 200 trade stands, artisan food producers, live cookery demonstrations, fashion shows, local crafts, horticulture exhibits and children's entertainment.

Food lovers can sample the finest local produce, shoppers can browse everything from farm machinery to handmade gifts, while families can relax and enjoy live music, delicious street food and the unique atmosphere that has made Virginia Show a favourite for generations.

As one of the highlights of Ireland's agricultural calendar, Virginia Show is more than a competition. It is a celebration of rural life, local communities and the people who produce some of the world's finest food.

Spotlight: 2026 Diageo Baileys Champion Cow

At the heart of the show is the internationally recognised Diageo Baileys Champion Cow competition.

The event celebrates the finest Holstein Friesian dairy cows from across the island, supported by Diageo Ireland and cream supplier Tirlán - the key ingredient partners behind Baileys Irish Cream.

Judging gets underway at 3:00pm. A €13,000 prize fund, apportioned across a number of categories will be contested by top breeders who can demonstrate exceptional dairy conformation with proven milk production performance, built on generations of breeding expertise and careful herd management.
