Enhanced herd immunity is something that the vast majority of farmers strives for, and what better way than to achieve it than by using all natural products?

Peter Ging is a herd owner of approximately 500 head of pedigree Freisans and Holstein cattle, on his 350ac farm in Ballyclider, Co. Laois.

During the 1990s, Peter struggled with disease within his herd. Peter went looking for, and found the GH AGRI Animal Health Care stand , at the National Ploughing Championships. He asked if they could solve his problem. They said they could and did.

Following the establishment of GH Agri in 1989, came Ridomast – a full-herd programme designed to enhance animal immunity, combat mastitis infections, and reduce and stabilise somatic cell counts (SCC) in dairy animals.

Peter said: “I said to myself, ‘if it works on one disease, sure, it has to work on the rest. So, then I started a range of products.”

Peter’s herd is in “great form”, and has no issues with leptospirosis, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR), or any other diseases as he is now using the GH AGRI Bovi BLI and BLS programmes.

When asked if he would recommend it to other farmers, Peter said ” I have recommended it to other farmers, so I would be happy to do that”.

He finds the administration of the products “very easy to manage” and when asked if he intends to continue using the products he replied “I do”.

“The biggest thing I have found is, I’m not going with a syringe injecting animals every day of the week. We’re calving all year round, so it’d be very hard to be doing them all in one day,” he added.

Peter’s herd is on seven different programmes, including leptospirosis; salmonella, ringworm, mastitis, IBR and BVD.

All of the natural ingredients in GH Agri products were carefully chosen to provide the best results without the use of hazardous chemicals with absolutely no milk or meat withdrawal periods.

The unique products are completely natural, harnessing the power of nature to strengthen the animals’ immune systems and enhance their overall productivity thus increasing Peter’s overall herd health.

GH Agri envisions a future where sustainable agriculture thrives, and are committed to developing a new range of innovative products and prioritise animal welfare and environmental stewardship.

Ridomast

By boosting immunity, Ridomast helps the animals fight off infections more effectively, leading to improved overall health and well-being.

The benefits of the Ridomast programme extend beyond animal health. This programme significantly helps to increase milk yields by reducing SCC.

Lower SCC indicate a healthier udder, resulting in higher-quality milk production.

With increased milk yields, dairy farmers can maximise their profits and enhance their overall productivity.

Ridomast is very simple to give to animals, since all you have to do is add it it to drinking water the ‘animals are being treated without even knowing it’ said Peter.

It offers a stress-free experience for animals, reducing the need for frequent catching and handling.

This not only minimises animal stress, but also saves valuable labour costs associated with managing the herd.

Ridomast is a non-toxic solution that can be utilised by both organic and conventional livestock farms.

When using any GH Agri natural products, the animal can still be milked. This saves the milk from being discarded and going to waste, as it is antibiotic-free and has no withdrawal period.

When using any GH Agri programme, you have a 12-month backup service. This means that if your animal is not improving, they will work with you to attain the desired outcomes and send you extra products at no extra cost.

The expansion of GH Agri’s business and new product innovation throughout the years has been aided by the Galway Local Enterprise Office (LEO). Valerie Kelly, Anne Marie Costello and Eoin Connaire and the rest of the team have been a great help to GH Agri during the business’ expansion.

Enterprise Ireland has also been a great resource for GH Agri, by connecting the company with the right people internationally.

Daniel Cunningham senior business development officer and marketing advisor in North Africa, UAE and the Middle East, in particular, was a major help in broadening the company’s knowledge gaining entry into these markets in 2022.

Since 1989, thousands of Irish and UK farmers have been using the Ridomast, Bovi, and BLI/BLS programmes. Since then, it has been repurchased by multiple clients.

Through GH Agri’s unwavering dedication innovation and sustainability, they strive to shape a brighter future for agriculture, and foster a healthier planet for generations to come.
