Connacht Rugby Captain John Muldoon has teamed up with Supermac’s for the promotion of its fresh range of Irish beef and chicken products, it has been announced.

Muldoon, who led Connacht to the Pro 12 title last year, will be the brand ambassador for the fast food chain’s full range of fresh sandwiches and burgers.

A statement from Supermac’s described the partnership as “a further commitment of the family group of restaurants to the Irish food sector”.

The quick service restaurant’s Managing Director Pat McDonagh stressed that the group only uses beef sourced from Irish farmers.

He said: “We are delighted to have John on board as brand ambassador for our fresh range of products.

John is an icon of Irish rugby and has proven himself as a great competitor. He has always brought a fresh approach to his demeanour on and off the pitch. He is a natural fit for this fresh range of products and the Supermac’s brand in general.

Keen hurler

The 34-year-old Portumna-native hails from a strong farming background and was an avid hurler in his youth. He formed part of the Galway team that won the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship in 2000 and has played alongside Galway legend, Joe Canning.

Commenting on his reasons for taking up the brand role, Muldoon said: “Supermac’s is an integral part of each and every community it is located in. People trust Supermac’s to deliver what they want.

“One of the things that makes Supermac’s unique is that it listens to its customers and gives them what they want. One of the things that customers looked for was fresh 100% Irish beef and chicken.

“When you compare these fresh products to frozen offerings, you know that the customer is the primary focus of what Supermac’s does.”
