There’s an unsettled weekend ahead with scattered showers and sunny spells, but Met Eireann has forecast for dry weather for next week.

There will be some bright or sunny spells today Friday, but there will also be further showers too.

Some of these showers are forecast to be heavy with some thundery downpours in places.

It will be fresher than yesterday, with top temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees, in moderate, occasionally fresh west to northwest winds.

Showers will last well into the evening on Friday but Met Eireann has said that they will die out early in the night.

Drying will be very variable over the weekend, with some good drying in between showers or spells of rain, especially on Saturday and on Monday next, when any showers will be well scattered.

Opportunities for spraying will be limited this weekend and while field conditions are generally good, poorly drained soils will remain close to saturation in parts of the north midlands and northwest.

Weekend weather outlook

Over the coming weekend, Saturday is forecast to have scattered showers for a time but they will be much lighter and not as prolonged as those of the previous two days.

Current indications from Met Eireann suggest that Sunday will start mainly dry and bright but it will cloud over as the day goes on.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle look likely to develop in the north and west through the afternoon and evening.

On both Saturday and Sunday, highest temperatures will range from 15 degrees on northwest coasts to 20 degrees in the southeast. Winds will be light to moderate, mainly westerly.

Outlook for next week

According to Met Eireann, the weather will stay slightly unsettled early next week with a westerly Atlantic flow continuing.

Many areas look set to see a lot of dry weather and temperatures will be around normal for the end of June.
