Once again, there are a number of agricultural shows taking place this weekend that are sure to brighten up the next few days for anyone interested in a lively rural summer day out.

There are three shows taking place tomorrow, July 22, in counties Leitrim, Clare and Wicklow.

Manorhamilton Agricultural Show

Starting with Co. Leitrim, the Manorhamilton Agricultural Show is set to begin at 10:00am tomorrow and will continue until 6:00pm.

The Leitrim event will have a very broad range of competitions. In the livestock events, categories include: a cattle section, both pedigree and non-pedigree; a sheep section; and a poultry section.

There will also be a ‘pet’s corner’ on the day, as well as a cookery section (including a junior category), and a flower event. Additionally, there will be competitions in horticulture, home industries, handwriting, photography, poetry, art and turf – best cut sods for both machine and hand classes.

Corofin Show

The Corofin North Clare Agricultural Show will kick off from 9:00am tomorrow morning. It will feature pony and horse jumping, equine judging, cattle and sheep judging, a dog show and donkey judging – which is all taking place between 9:30am and 2:30pm.

There will also be baking, floral and craft displays on the day, as well as trade stalls and a range of “family fun activities” this Saturday.

Kilmacanogue Horse Show

Meanwhile, in Co. Wicklow, the Kilmacanogue Horse Show is due to start at 10:00am tomorrow morning. Organised and held by the Kilmacanogue and District Horse Show Society, the event is entering its 44th year.

The show is in aid of several charities including: Wicklow Hospice; Kilmacanogue Senior Citizens; Spinal Injuries Ireland; Cancer Support; DSPCA (the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals); Open Door; and Enniskerry Tidy Towns.

There will be a wide range of horse and pony competitions, including dressage, children’s pony classes, performance hunter and working hunter classes, among others. There will also be sheep competitions and a dog show on the day, as well as competitions in photography and art.

Admission is €5 for adults, with children under 16 allowed free entry.
