Various agricultural shows are taking place this weekend that are sure to put a spring in the step of anyone interested in a lively day out.
With a previous article giving details of today’s shows, this article will focus on the four agricultural shows that will be taking place tomorrow, July 23.
Ossory Show
Firstly, in Rathdowney, Co. Laois, the Ossory Show will be up and running from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
The event will include a variety of activities including shows for horses, ponies, cattle (both pedigree and commercial), sheep, goats and poultry, show jumping and a dog show.
In the ‘indoor arena’, arts, crafts, flowers and cookery competitions will be held, along with a range of trade stands.
There will also be competitions for the most suitably dressed ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls, and a contest for the ‘most glamorous granny’.
South East Clare Show
The South East Clare Show will be taking place from 10:00am at the Bridgetown Show Grounds, Co. Clare.
Some of the key events on the day will include show jumping, horse showing and an “expanded range of ridden horse classes”.
According to the organisers, there has been a large amount of interest in many of the cattle showing classes, as well as in dog showing and the Irish Pony Society section
There is expected to be a variety of vintage cars, tractors and farm machinery on display, as well as competitions in driving traditional vehicles, home produce and horticulture – along with a number of trade stands.
Schull Agricultural Show
Meanwhile, in Co. Cork, the Schull Agricultural Show will be underway from 12:00pm to 5:00pm at Schull Town Park. According to the organisers, there will be a host of events taking place on the day, including horse and pony classes, a dog show, and a “special pets’ corner”.
Additionally, there will be lots of new classes in the indoor section including baking and art, among other contests. There will be a fire brigade safety demonstration and face painting at the show too.
Erris Agricultural Show
Finally, tomorrow afternoon will see the Erris Agricultural Show begin from 3:00pm at Carne Airstrip, just outside Belmullet, Co. Mayo.
In terms of livestock competitions, there will be classes for cattle, sheep, horses, ponies and poultry, with a showjumping event and a dog show also set to take place.
There will be live music from well-known country singer Mick Flavin, among others, as well as a vintage show, children’s entertainment, a tug o’ war, jiving and waltzing at the event.
