After a cold start to the week, it will be mostly dry with just a few outbreaks of rain, according to Met Eireann.

Today, Monday, is forecast to be mainly dry with sunny periods after fog and mist clears.

A low temperature warning remains in place this morning until 9.00am, with lows of -3 and -4 in Connacht, Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal.

It looks set to become gradually becoming milder through the day as moderate to fresh southerly winds develop.

Highest temperatures today are to range between 6 to 9 degrees, with rain arriving on west coasts during the evening.

This week, drying conditions will vary from day to day and may be reasonable good at times on Monday and again on Wednesday as winds will be fresh in places and it should be mostly dry, Met Eireann has said.

Poor drying is forecast later in the week, as conditions become unsettled.

Well and moderately drained soils are mostly trafficable at present and look set to remain so over the coming days.

Poorly drained soils are saturated and may become waterlogged over next weekend, with moderately drained soil deteriorating at that stage also.
