Zurich Insurance is currently seeking candiates with farming experience for an apprenticeship in insurance practice.

In its second year running, the apprenticeship offers applicants the opportunity to secure three years training and development with Zurich, at its centre of excellence in Drinagh, Co. Wexford.

The programme will create two specialist positions on Zurich’s agri-team. This division focuses on managing the business’ farm portfolio.

Successful applicants will be able to work towards achieving a Professional Diploma in General Insurance; with the opportunity to go on and secure a Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance Practice.

Apprentices will apparently gain “extensive knowledge” of the farm insurance industry, while working with Zurich’s range of coverage, including farming property, livestock, farm home and ‘business interruption’. On their placement, apprentices will experience, first-hand, the skills required to work within the sector.

Following a similar programme last year, Zurich has launching the apprenticeship for a second year. The Head of Human Resources at Zurich, Darragh Byrne, has said the company is seeking out “hard-working, passionate people with a willingness to engage”.

In order to qualify for the programme, those under 23-years-old must have a minimum of two Leaving Certificate honours; with a pass in Mathematics and English or Irish. For applicants over 23-years-old, on January 1 of the year of entry, interviews and other selection tools will be used to assess suitability.

The deadline for online applications is this week, Wednesday, May 31.
