Weekend to see some spells of rain but dry conditions also

This weekend will see some spells of rain, particularly in the west and north, but a fair amount of dry weather as well, especially in the east, according to Met Éireann.

Today (Friday, August 7) will be mainly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells and just the odd light shower possible.

Highest temperatures today will be 16° to 24°, coolest in the northwest and warmest in Leinster, with light to moderate southwesterly winds, fresher at times near northwest coasts.

Tonight will be mainly dry with clear spells, mainly over Munster and Leinster. It will become cloudier in Connacht and Ulster with patchy rain and drizzle developing in parts of the west and northwest overnight.

Lowest temperatures tonight will be 8° to 13° with light southerly or variable breezes.

Tomorrow (Saturday, August 8) will be mostly cloudy in west Munster, Connacht and Ulster with outbreaks of rain and drizzle, extending into Leinster towards evening.

Much of Leinster and Munster will be largely dry with bright or sunny intervals.

Highest temperatures will be 16° to 20° in Connacht and Ulster and 20° to 25° in Leinster and Munster, with light to moderate south to southwest winds.

Tomorrow night will be mild and mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, mainly in Ulster. There will be some decent dry intervals in the south.

Temperatures will not fall below 11° to 16°, with mostly light southwesterly breezes.

Sunday (August 9) will be mostly cloudy. Outbreaks of rain and drizzle will move slowly southeastwards, becoming lighter and patchier and eventually clearing.

Highest temperatures will range from 16° in the northwest to 24° in the southeast, with moderate southwest to west winds.

Sunday night will be mainly dry with clear spells, and will be quite cool, with lowest temperatures of 9° to 14°.

Monday (August 10) will be mainly dry with a mix of cloud and sunny spells and just a few showers. Highest temperatures will be 17° to 22° in mostly light westerly breezes.

Tuesday (August 11) will be warm and mainly dry with bright or sunny spells. Rain will develop in the west in the evening and early night. Highest temperatures should be 21° to 25° with light to moderate southerly winds.

Wednesday (August 12) is expected to be warm and humid with outbreaks of rain moving slowly eastwards. Highest temperatures should be 22° to 27° with moderate southerly winds.

Met Éireann said that Thursday (August 13) and Friday (August 14) look like being a bit cooler and fresher with a fair amount of dry weather and some rain or showers at times.
