The weather this week will remain changeable, but in general rainfall totals will be lower than in recent weeks, according to Met Éireann.

Despite that, counties Cork and Kerry will be under a Status Yellow warning for rain and wind over tonight (Monday, March 4).

The warning will come into effect at 7:00p.m this evening and will remain in effect until 6:00a.m tomorrow morning (Tuesday, March 5).

A Status Yellow wind warning for Clare, Galway and Limerick will be in place from 1:00a.m until 8:00a.m on Tuesday.

There will be very strong and gusty west to southwest winds and spells of heavy rain in those counties. The weather conditions will give rise to a risk of falling branches; damage to temporary structures; and localised flooding.

Visibility will be poor and, as a result, there will be difficult travelling conditions on roads.

Elsewhere today, it will be generally cloudy and increasingly breezy, with rain in the south pushing northwards over the country. However, it looks set to remain mostly dry in Ulster until evening time. Some heavy falls are likely with the chance of some spot flooding in the south and southeast.

Highest temperatures today will be 7° to 10° with fresh to strong and gusty southeast winds, veering southwest in the south later in the day.

Rain will clear away to the northeast at first tonight, with drier and clearer weather developing in many areas for a time. However, a further spell of heavy rain will quickly return to the south of the country overnight, bringing the chance of some localised flooding there.

It will also turn very windy in the southwest, where the Status Yellow warning will be in place. Strong and gusty southeast winds will veer southwest in direction overnight. Lowest overnight temperatures will be 3° to 6°.

Tomorrow will see a blustery and rather wet start, with scattered outbreaks of rain across the country. Turning drier during the day as rain clears away to the north with good spells of sunshine developing.

Maximum temperatures tomorrow will be 8° to 12° with fresh to strong southwest winds moderating through the day.

Tomorrow night will start largely dry, with clear skies at first, but cloud will thicken from the Atlantic with rain developing in the south and west later in the night.

Tomorrow night will be rather cold for a time early in the night in the north and east, with lows of 2° to 5°, though it will be less cold further south and west, with lowest temperatures of 6° to 9°. Southeast winds will freshen overnight.

It looks set to be mostly cloudy and fairly windy on Wednesday (March 6), with outbreaks of rain in the south and west. However, there will be dry weather in the north and east with just occasional light rain or drizzle. Highest temperatures will be 10° to 13° in fresh to strong southeast winds.

It is set to stay breezy on Wednesday night with further rain and drizzle at times in the south and southwest but mostly dry elsewhere. Lowest temperatures will be 6° to 9° with fresh southeast breezes.

Dry and bright weather is expected on Thursday (March 7), with sunny spells and patchy cloud for most. However, it will be cloudier across parts of the south and southwest, with the chance of some rain or drizzle at times. Highest temperatures are expected to be 8° to 11° with fresh east or southeast winds.

It should remain mostly dry on Thursday night apart from the odd light shower. Lowest temperatures will be 4° to 7° with a moderate to fresh easterly breeze.
