The UCD Agricultural Society or Ag Soc are set to host a charity auction in Balla Mart this Saturday (November 14) to raise funds for Console – the National Suicide Prevention Charity.
According to the Auditor of the Society, TJ Duffy, the auction is in conjunction with a special springer sale and is sure to draw a large crowd.
The society has chosen Console as their 2015-2016 charity partner, as it offers support to all the vulnerable people from rural Ireland.
There are a number of very good items up for auction which range from cattle feed vouchers, fertiliser, AI straws and a pair of Charollais ewe lambs.
These items will go under the hammer as the not-for-profit society aims to continue its successful charity fundraising efforts, as the group raised €31,500 for Pieta House last year.
According to Duffy, the concept of the auction is a relatively new idea for the society, but it is not the sole event that will be run this year as there will also be a range or events and forums throughout the academic year.
Agriland.ie is delighted to sponsor both Ag Soc and Console in this worthy cause and have offered a number of very stylish jackets to go under the hammer.
As Ireland’s largest farming news portal, covering every aspect of farming related news, we feel that supporting such a worthy cause is worthwhile as almost every community throughout Ireland has been touched by suicide.
