There will be sunny spells and scattered showers for the week ahead, Met Eireann says.

Today (Monday) will be mostly cloudy with a mix of dry periods and some patchy light rain or drizzle, Met Eireann says.

There will be some bright intervals and there will be highest temperatures of 13 to 18 degrees Celsius, it says.

Tonight (Monday) will be mostly cloudy and damp with patchy drizzle and some mist or fog with lowest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees, it says.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) will start off mostly cloudy with some patchy drizzle but bright or sunny spells will develop in many areas, the best of these in Munster and Leinster, it says.

On coastal areas there will be a risk of patchy drizzle in Connacht and Ulster, Met Eireann says.

There will be highest temperatures of 13 degrees in the northwest to 20 degrees in the southeast with moderate northwest breezes, Met Eireann says.

There will be some clear spells Tuesday night however rain and drizzle will move in over Connacht and Ulster overnight, it says.

Looking to Wednesday, it says rain will spread from the west to all areas but it will clear in the afternoon with sunny spells and scattered showers following.

There will be highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees with moderate to fresh westerly breezes, it says.

Wednesday night will be cool and breezy with some scattered showers, Met Eireann says.

On Thursday, Met Eireann says it will be cool with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers will be heaviest and most frequent in Connacht and Ulster with highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees.

Friday will continue to be cool with a mix of more sunny spells and scattered showers some heavy especially in Ulster, it says. There will be highest temperatures of 11 to 15 degrees again, it says.

Looking to the weekend, Met Eireann says it will be mainly dry in Ulster and north Leinster, however rain will spread over Munster, Connacht and south Leinster.

The rain will extend to remaining areas early in the night and there will be highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees, it says.

The rain on Saturday will clear overnight and Sunday will be a cool, blustery day with showers or longer spells of rain, Met Eireann says.
