Over 3,900 farmers apply for tranche 13 of TAMS

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has confirmed that over 3,900 applications were made for tranche 13 of the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3).

TAMS 3 provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The date for farmers to apply for tranche 13 of the scheme closed for applications on September 4.

A spokesperson for the department confirmed to Agriland that a total of 3,910 applications had been submitted by the deadline.

The Animal Welfare Nutrient Storage Scheme (AWNSS) had the highest number of applications in this tranche at 1,137.

This was followed by the Farm Safety Capital Investment Scheme with 1,053 applications.

Due to the level of demand for TAMS 3, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Heydon previously announced that ranking and selection (RASS) would be applied for recent tranches because of "overall budgetary constraints".

A total of 69,593 applications were submitted in the first twelve tranches of TAMS 2023-2027.

Tranche 12 closed for applications on June 19, with 5,839 applications submitted across all schemes, plus a further 1,395 applications which rolled over from Tranche 11.

The system of ranking and selection of applications will work on a "differentiated basis", with the farm safety and nutrient storage schemes within TAMS seeing the highest rates of selection.

DAFM said the current tranche of the scheme, tranche 14, opened on September 5 and will close for applications on December 4, 2026.
