A dairy sale – which will include two special entries of maiden heifers – is set to be held online by Tullow Mart, in Co. Carlow next week.

The sale will take place virtually, via the MartEye platform, on Wednesday, February 24, with bids kicking off from 12:00pm.

Commenting ahead of the sale, Tullow Mart manager Eric Driver said:

This is a very exciting venture for all in Tullow Mart as we work with our dairy farmers to build a sale which will deliver excellent stock with a catalogue of information to complement the physical animal.

Noting that entries are now invited for this sale, he added: “We have many clients looking to purchase calves and on the point of calving heifers and cows, with many more farmers looking to secure breeding heifers to introduce to the herd profile.

“We currently have two special entries of maiden heifers from the herds of Jamie and Lorraine Kealy, and Jeremy O’Toole,” he added.

The manager said that pictures and videos of stock entered will be posted on the mart’s Facebook page over the coming days.

“We are holding this sale independently of all other sales in the week giving it the correct platform it deserves where hygiene and health of stock is paramount to the sale,” Driver concluded.
