Nine former pupils of Drumglass High School Dungannon graduated together at the recent awards day at CAFRE (College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise), Loughry Campus.
The students successfully finished courses ranging from BTEC (Business and Education Council) National Diplomas to Bachelor of Science (Hons) Degrees.
Peter Simpson, Course Manager at CAFRE, commented on the event, noting: “Loughry attracts students from all parts of Northern Ireland to its Further and Higher Education programmes.
We’re delighted that the success of the agri-food sector is also catching the eye of local pupils.
Careers advice
Anyone interested in up-skilling in the food industry is encouraged by CAFRE to come along to one of its ‘Career Advice Events‘, which will be taking place on Thursday, August 24, at all three CAFRE campuses.
The events will give advice on the courses run by CAFRE in the food industry. At Loughry Campus, these include; Food Design and Nutrition; Food Technology; Food, Nutrition and Health; Food Business Management and Packaging, in addition to postgraduate programmes in business for agri-food and rural enterprise.
Enniskillen Campus offers course in both equine and farriery, as well as day-release agriculture courses. Meanwhile Greenmount Campus provides courses in agriculture, veterinary nursing, floristry, land-based engineering and horticulture.
The advisary event will be held in Loughry Campus from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, while the career events at both the Enniskillen Campus and the Greenmount Campus will begin at 7:00pm.
