Teagasc’s Virtual Beef Week themed ‘Building a Sustainable Irish Beef Sector’ will continue on Thursday, July 9, with all the focus turning to grassland for beef production, showcasing how to grow and utilise more grass in the production of beef animals.

Teagasc will demonstrate how commercial farms are practicing good grazing management and how this is improving animal performance and ultimately the financial performance of their beef enterprises.

The live panel discussion – Live@Grange – will have a particular focus on growing and utilising more grass.

If you have a question during the live broadcast, just text the word TEAGASC followed by your question, name and location to 51444 (ROI only; standard network charges apply) or join in on Twitter at: #VirtualBeefWeek.

The discussion entitled ‘How my farm grows more grass?’ will involve suckler farmer Sean Roddy from Co. Kildare, who will be available for live questions; this discussion will be led by Teagasc’s Aidan Murray.

In addition, Sean will also be joined on the panel by his Teagasc advisor Christy Watson and Edward O’Riordan from Teagasc Grange.

Throughout the show, feature video clips from Sean’s farm will be broadcast detailing how he: corrected soil fertility; implements a paddock system; and manages grass at different times of the year.

The live panel discussion will be available on all AgriLand and Teagasc platforms at 7.00pm tonight.
