Do you know how to pick a winner? At this year’s Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show, from 7-11 August, you can select your winners in the judging rings and if it corresponds with the judges choices, you win €1,000.
The Public Judging Competition encourages visitors to demonstrate their judging skills. All visitors have to do is pick up an entry form at the show rings and choose their winning line up of horses from a select number of classes taking place during each day of the show.
From young horses to stallions, the variety of classes will give spectators and enthusiasts a unique opportunity to exercise their judging skills. Each day, the commentator will announce the classes which are open to public judging and guidelines will be provided to all entrants.
This year, the classes open for public judging are:
7 Wednesday: Small Hunters and Connemara Pony Breeders’ Championship (Ring 1)
8 Thursday: Three Year Old Geldings and Irish Draught Mares (Ring 1) and Light Weight Hunters (Ring 2)
9 Friday: Breeders’ Championship and Irish Draught Stallions (Ring 1) and Cobs- Heavy Weights (Ring 2)
10 Saturday: Filly Foals, Racehorse to Riding Horse and Sportsman – Amateur Hunter all in Ring 1
11 Sunday: Show Hunter Ponies and Broodmare Futurity (Ring 1) and Working Hunter Horses -Section A for 5 – 10 Yr Old Light Weights (Ring 2).
