The Hereford Charity Calendar was created in association with Irish Hereford Prime and the Irish Hereford Breed Society.

The calendar raised €8,460 for their 2024 charity partner, Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin.

The image features former Irish rugby star, Seán O’Brien, with operations and account manager at Irish Hereford Prime, Tennyson Egar, presenting a cheque to corporate partnership executive at Children’s Health Foundation, Oisin Fahy.

This sizable sum will go directly to an “extremely worthy” cause, which is important in supporting hundreds of sick children and their families on a daily basis.

Now in its fourth year, this year’s charity calendar features a selection of winning photographs and drawings created by Irish artists who entered into the Hereford Charity Photo and Calendar Competition during the summer of 2023.

Tennyson Egar commented on the competition:

“We have no doubt that all of the children and their families that benefit from the wonderful work carried out by Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin will be so grateful by the skilled efforts of all involved.”

A teenager from Co. Wicklow was the overall winner of the annual Hereford charity calendar competition announced back in October 2023.

15-year-old Hannah O’Neill caught the eye of the judges with her drawing of a Hereford calf entitled “Cute as a Button”.

The winning entry was part of the ‘Creative Calves’ category, a new section for last year’s (2023) competition which was open to those aged 16 and under.

Along with her portrait featuring in the 2024 Hereford charity calendar, the teenager was also presented with €500.

The judging process for the photo competition was contained a public vote and independent judging panel.

The entries were showcased on the Irish Hereford Breed Society’s Facebook page, with the four category winners being chosen by public vote.

The calendar went on sale from November 1 on the Irish Hereford Prime website.
