The Case IH tractor – with a 10-RN-1470 registration plate – is believed to have been stolen from the Mount Prospect area in the hours of darkness between 5:30pm on Saturday evening and 8:00am on Sunday morning, according to Midwest Radio.

It is understood that the tractor was spotted on CCTV as it drove past a neighbour’s house with a car following behind it. The last sighting of the tractor is believed to have been in Roscommon town and it is thought that it was driving out the Longford road.

This is not the first tractor theft this year; a tractor, which was stolen in Co. Laois on Friday, January 12, was spotted almost 100km away from the farmyard it was taken from.

A Massey Ferguson 6480 – registration number 12-LS-1137 – along with a big red Broughan grain trailer with a yellow roll-over cover was stolen from a farmyard near The Rock, Mountmellick, Co. Laois.

The tractor was seen heading towards either Ballyfin or Portlaoise and was later spotted in Mountrath Co. Laois the same day.

Following this, the stolen tractor and trailer were spotted in Birdhill, Co. Tipperary, at around 11:00pm.

It is believed that the tractor may have been heading in the direction of Limerick.

Farmers and the general public have been asked to keep an eye out for the tractor and trailer. Anyone with any information is asked to contact their local Garda station.
