Gardaí are investigating a fire at a hay shed in Co. Tipperary that occurred over the weekend, treating it as an incident of “criminal damage”.

The fire occurred at around 7:00pm yesterday evening (Sunday, October 25), in the Ardfinnan area of Co. Tipperary, near Clonmel in the south of the county.

“Gardaí are investigating an incident of criminal damage by fire which occurred at a barn,” a Garda statement said.

The area was preserved for a technical examination after the fire was brought under control.

An investigation into the incident is continuing today.

The fire was attended by units from Tipperary Fire and Rescue.

A social media post from Tipperary Fire and Rescue noted that a crew from the Cahir brigade battled the fire into the early hours of this morning.

Cork shooting incident

In other Gardaí-related news, the bodies of three men were found at a farm in north Co. Cork following a fatal shooting incident today.

At approximately 6.30am today (Monday, October 26), Gardaí in Kanturk were alerted to a critical firearms incident at a farm at Assolas, Kanturk, Co. Cork.

A short time earlier a female, in her 60s, alerted neighbours that firearms had been discharged at her home. Gardaí were informed that three males were present in the house, and that one male may have suffered from gunshot wounds.
