Garda investigations are ongoing following a reported theft of a horsebox at a premises in the Ardsollus area of Quin, Co. Clare.

The horsebox was stolen some time between Saturday night (September 21) at 9:00p.m and Sunday morning (September 22) at 8:00a.m.

The owner, Susan Hannon told Agriland that the box is a black Ifor Williams 505 that was overall in an “immaculate condition” at the time.

Hannon said that the box had been kept in a secure location overnight, and that she noticed the “lock was cut from the gate” after she found it had been stolen.

Hannon has no original photos of the horsebox, but she has supplied pictures of similar trailers and features across social media.

Horsebox features

However, Hannon said that the box “has a few identifying features” for anyone who thinks that they might have come across it, such as rust on washers, bolts and front bars.

Hannon said that there is also a hole in the front left mudguard where it broke after a flat tyre, and that when the ramp is opened on the trailer, the left hand side of the floor has “a noticeable dip”.

Hannon added that there is also “a noticeable difference” in the rivet attachment, as a reflector which had broken off has since been re-attached.

The horsebox is also missing the dividing partitions from inside, therefore Hannon has notified Ifor Williams to watch out for someone “looking to buy the partitions alone”.

Hannon has also provided footage of CCTV from a neighbours house to An Garda Síochána, along with CCTV footage from a nearby shop.
