A farmer has died in Northern Ireland after he was involved in a farm accident with a bull over the weekend. The age of the farmer is not known at this time.
The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) has confirmed that it is investigating the fatal incident.
According to the HSENI, the accident occurred on a farm in the Aughnacloy area in Co. Tyrone.
It is also understood that there was a second incident involving a bull on another farm in the North this morning, April 24.
In response, the HSENI has warned farmers to take extreme care when working with bulls after these two serious incidents were reported over the past 48 hours.
Furthermore, it recommends to regularly check and maintain facilities such as the crush, gates and fences.
The HSENI has said to never turn your back on a bull or trust a bull.
When working with the bull, it advises that all bulls should be ringed and that housed bulls should be kept in a properly designed bull pen.
It recommends farmers to cull aggressive bulls before it’s too late.
Last year in Northern Ireland, there were four deaths in the agriculture sector, one of which also involved a bull.
