Co. Down machinery dealer, Cyril Johnston Ltd, has confirmed its appointment as a dealer for the Kioti range of tractors in Northern Ireland.

“The announcement ties in with this week’s Open Days, taking place on Wednesday and Thursday,” said company representative Harry Gillespie.

“We will have six different models on display throughout the two days. It is eight years since Cyril Johnston Ltd had its own tractor dealership; we were formerly Massey Ferguson dealers. So this is great news for the business.

“Initial contact with Kioti was made at an international machinery event some months ago. And a good working business relationship has developed since then.”

Kioti tractors range in size from approximately 22hp up to 110hp. They are manufactured in South Korea.

“The smaller tractors will prove attractive to ground-care operators. But the larger tractors will be very competitive within the sector of the market that targets smaller livestock farmers and equine businesses,” said Gillespie.

The larger tractors in the Kioti range are all fitted with Category 2 attachment points, thereby making them amenable to all standard farm equipment.

Gillespie said that a 100hp Kioti tractor will sell for £40,000. He added that finance is available on all models.

Kioti’s line-up includes the CS Series (22-25hp), CK10 Series (25-40hp), DK10 Series (45-55hp), NX Series (45-60hp), RX Series (66-73hp) and PX Series (90-110hp).

The PX Series is the one which may well prove most attractive to farmers in Northern Ireland.

Kioti is the trading name for Daedong tractors in North America and Europe. Daedong Industrial Company Ltd, which is based in Daegu, South Korea, was founded in 1947, producing its first tractor in 1968.

In 1993, Daedong expanded into the US market with Daedong-USA Inc and established the Kioti brand. Currently, Kioti offers over 40 different tractor models in the US and Canada as well as three utility vehicle models, along with a number of attachments and implements.

Meanwhile, the Kioti distributor for the Republic of Ireland is PJ Callan, based in Ardee, Co. Louth.
