It will be cold and mostly dry this weekend, with some good clear spells but Met Eireann has also forecast scattered showers.

Today, Friday will be a mostly dry day with some sunny spells, however, it is forecast to be cloudier in the south and southwest with outbreaks of rain.

It will be a bit cooler with moderate east to northeast breezes and highest temperatures ranging between 10 to 15 degrees.

It will be warmest in Connacht counties and coolest along east and south coasts today, Met Eireann has promised.

Tonight is forecast to be a mostly dry night with good clear spells developing. Moderate northeasterly winds will back northerly and begin to ease as the night goes on.

Lowest temperatures tonight will fall to between 1 and 4 degrees and Met Eireann has warned that this will lead to a slight grass frost.

Tomorrow, Saturday, is promised to be a cold day in a moderate northerly breeze and it will be mostly dry with isolated showers, mainly in the north and east.

Top temperatures tomorrow are forecast to range between 9 and 11 degrees.

Saturday night is likely to be mostly dry with good clear spells. North to northwesterly winds will be light and lowest temperatures are forecast to fall to between zero and 3 degrees with a widespread ground frost.

Current indications suggest that Sunday will be mostly dry with scattered showers in the north and northwest.

There will be good sunshine at first but it will become cloudier later, according to Met Eireann. It will continue to be cold in a light to moderate northwesterly breeze and top temperatures are forecast to range between 9 and 11 degrees.

Next week, Met Eireann has indicated that the cold weather will continue into the early days of next week with scattered showers and sunny spells.

Winds next week look set to continue mostly moderate north to northwesterly while the nights will be cold and frosty.
