The Special Texel In-Lamb Sale is set to take place on Saturday, December 8, in Blessington Mart, Co. Wicklow.
The sale is set to commence at 1:00pm and organisers from the sale have said that the breeders involved have collectively made their mark on the show ring over the years.
In a statement, the sale is being described as “one of the main events in the Texel calendar this year”, with over 100 females on offer from some of the “best breeding lines” of flocks such as: Foundry; Lawn; Annakisha; Donnellys; Chessy; Emlach; and Thornville.
The statement said this sale will give new and existing breeders the opportunity to expand their flocks and for new breeders to start with “exceptional” bloodlines.
Dispersal sale
After 15 years of dedicated breeding, Tom Bailey has made the difficult decision to totally disperse his flock at the sale.
Organisers of the sale have said it is honoured to host the dispersal sale of the renowned Baileys Flock.
The flock was founded on the private purchase of five ewe hoggets from the Muiresk flock.
One of these originals has bred a National Champion in 2005 and a Blessington Champion in 2006 selling for a record €38,000 and his brother sold for €18,000.
Other additions to the flock were made from Glenside, Forkins, Cairness, Laurelbank, Chessy and Lawn flocks.
One of the most notable purchases in the flock was the €28,000 Forkins Nijinsky who bred very well, siring the National Champion 2005, first-prize senior ewe lamb and first-prize senior ram lamb.
The sheep being offered this year will give new and existing breeders a chance to purchase ewes to suit all budgets.
The breeders in the sale will assist with transport in Ireland and export can be arranged if required.
For any new breeders needing advice, the breeders in the sale have said they are more than willing to share some of their experience.
