Beef exports from Brazil have reached a new monthly record at a total of 236,842t in April 2024, according to latest figures published by the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (Abiec).
Last month’s beef exports from the country exceeded the previous monthly high recorded in December 2023 at 234,618t. In total, Brazil exported 2.29 million tonnes of beef last year, up from 2.26 million tonnes in 2022.
Brazilian beef exports in the first four months of 2024 now stand at a total of 835,328t, of which 204,662t, 203,878t, and 189,947t were exported in January, February and March respectively.
The most important export market, by a vast majority, for Brazilian beef during the first four months of this year was China, taking in a total of 374,635t, according to Abiec figures.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) was the second most important export market for Brazilian beef at 64,787t, followed by the US and Hong Kong at 52,004t and 41,089t respectively.
The EU was the fifth biggest export market for Brazilian beef, taking in a total of 29,925t between January and April 2024. In 2023, 104,651t were exported to the EU, down from 109,718t in 2022.
The average price of beef exports from Brazil so far this year stands at $4,410/t with a total value of $3.68 million. The total average price of exports in 2023 was $4,610/t with a value of $10.55 million, according to Abiec figures.
