Aurivo, Arrabawn and Dairygold have all announced milk price increases for milk produced during the month of August.

Announcing a milk price increase of 1c/L, Aurivo suppliers will be paid a base price of 35.5c/L including VAT for August milk.

The processor has also announced plans to pay a 1c/L bonus to its suppliers on top of the base price for last month’s supplies.

Arrabawn also increased its August milk price to 36c/L including VAT – representing an increase of 1c/L. Meanwhile, a 1.5c/L milk price increase has been announced by Dairygold, following a meeting of the board today.

This increase will bring the processor’s base milk price to 36c/L, including a 0.5c/L quality bonus and VAT.

Prior to this, Dairygold upped its milk price by 1c/L for the month of June and July. A number of other processors have decided to increase their milk prices for the eight month of this year.

Earlier this morning, Kerry announced a milk price increase of 1.5c/L – bring its base price for August supplies to 36c/L including VAT.

This represented Kerry’s second consecutive monthly increase of 1.5c/L, and it follows on from 1c/L increases announced for both May and June milk.

Glanbia and Lakeland Dairies also decided to up their milk prices for August milk. Lakeland Dairies also announced a lactose bonus of 0.28c/L, which brings its milk price to 35.28c/L including VAT.

The increase announced by Glanbia means it will be paying its suppliers a base price of 35c/L, VAT inclusive. However, the processor also announced that it will pay its milk suppliers a 1c/L bonus on all milk supplied in January to June of 2017.

Other processors are expected to announce their milk prices in the coming days. These increases come in a month where Ornua’s Purchase Price Index (PPI) recorded an increase of 0.9 percentage points.

The PPI for the seventh month of the year equated to 110.1%; this increased to 111% for August. This increase represents the fourth consecutive increase reported in Ornua’s PPI since April.
