Why Attend BEEF2026

Hear from farmers who have already visited Teagasc Grange ahead of the Open Day — and see what they found.

Ken visited Grange with his advisor ahead of the Open Day.

What struck him most wasn't cutting-edge technology — it was the practical, low-cost infrastructure designed to cut labour and reduce stress on cattle and farmer alike. Proper fencing, well-placed handling facilities, pens positioned to eliminate unnecessary cattle movement.

"Simple things," Ken said, "but they reduce labour and stress enormously."

Ken Walsh, Co. Wexford

Robbie visited Grange with a particular interest in where methane research is heading.

What he found was directly actionable. Teagasc researchers are showing how sire selection alone can meaningfully reduce emissions — without waiting for new infrastructure or additives.

"That's something we can implement nearly immediately at farm level," Robbie said, "because we're picking bulls every year."

Robbie Lloyd, Co. Leitrim
