Where do your 2026 sires stand on the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation's (ICBF) Active Bull after the most recent evaluations?
ICBF is committed to regularly reviewing and updating the economic values of animals based off new data that is constantly becoming available through offspring.
In the May evaluations, farmers saw quite a re-ranking in terms of the top 20 animals in ICBF's active bull list, with only one bull keeping his place in the top 10 compared to the March evaluations.
This re-ranking was largely put to sires moving from a Genomic Proof (GS) bull to a Daughter Proof (DP-Irl) bull.
This time around, six out of the top 10 have stayed within that top 10 category, with the top two keeping their position.
Meanwhile, only five sires fell out of the top 20, four of which are still within the top 32.

The biggest shock will be Knockatrisna Canelo SRM (FR9959), a March-2023-born-GS bull who has dropped from fourth position in May down to 121st place here in July.
His Economic Breeding Index (EBI) went from €285 in the May evaluations to an newly updated figure of €216.
Meanwhile, Candrew Freeddie 2040 SRM (FR9801) went from ninth place with an EBI of €276, to 28th place with an updated EBI of €257.
Laharn Bruno (FR9816) fell from 12th to 32nd, as his EBI dropped from €271 to €256.
Bunacloy Fantasy (FR2533) saw his EBI drop from €267 to €257, resulting in him dropping from 15th to 30th place.
Ballinard Mixto SRM (FR2571) was the last bull to drop out of the top 20, going from 20th to 25th as he saw a €3 reduction in his EBI, which now sits at €259.
Crefogue Topbike SRM (FR2537) kept his top spot on the list, as his EBI value increased from €333 to €346.
Meanwhile, Rivendell Loki SRM (FR2602) saw his EBI rise by €4, which was enough to keep his second place.
