Weather to continue mixed overall with rain and dry intervals

This week will see mixed weather overall, with rain and showers at times but also some dry and sunny intervals, according to Met Éireann.

It will be mostly cloudy this morning (Tuesday, April 22) but with some hazy sunshine across eastern parts. Rain in the west will continue to extend eastwards through the morning and early afternoon with some heavy downpours possible and moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.

Showers or longer spells of rain will follow from the west later in the afternoon and evening as the winds become westerly or variable. Highest temperatures will be 10° to 14°.

It will be mostly cloudy at first tonight with showers or some outbreaks of rain, becoming lighter and patchier as it clears southwards through the night with clear spells following from the north.

Lowest temperatures will be 4° to 9° in light to moderate northerly or variable winds with some mist and fog patches developing.

Mist and fog patches will clear tomorrow morning (Wednesday, April 23), leaving a mix of cloud and sunny spells, and with well scattered showers developing.

Better sunny spells will develop later in the day tomorrow. Highest temperatures will be 12° to 16° in light to moderate northerly or variable breezes.

Tomorrow night will be dry, with mostly clear skies, though it will turn cloudier in the southwest. Lowest temperatures will be 3° to 8° in light easterly or variable breezes with some mist and fog patches developing.

Mist and fog will clear through the morning on Thursday (April 24). There will be plenty of dry weather for most with sunny spells and just a few light showers.

However, the west and southwest will see cloudier weather, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle developing through the morning and afternoon, turning more persistent in the evening. Highest temperatures on Thursday will be 13° to 16° or 17° in light to moderate southeasterly breezes.

Thursday night will be dry in the north and east at first with some clear spells, but turning cloudier as rain in the west and southwest slowly extends further eastwards. Lowest temperatures will be 7° to 11° in a mostly moderate southeast wind.

Friday morning (April 25) will start wet, with widespread rain. Through the afternoon and evening, the rain will clear from the west to sunny spells and scattered showers, some of which could be heavy or thundery.
