The weather this weekend will be unsettled and it will remain unsettled through much of next week, Met Eireann has said.
Today (Friday) will be mild, cloudy and breezy with scattered outbreaks of rain this morning in southwestern, western and northwestern counties, it said.
Met Eireann has said that more persistent rain will develop there this afternoon and becoming heavy.
It will be mostly dry in midland, eastern and southern areas but it said that there will be some patchy rain in the south with afternoon temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees Celsius.
Tonight (Friday) will be breezy and it will become wet countrywide tonight with a spell of heavy rain in all areas for a time, Met Eireann said.
A clearance to scattered showers will follow eastwards later in the night with the rain clearing eastern coasts around dawn, it said.
According to Met Eireann, it will turn cooler tonight (Friday) as the fresh and gusty southerly winds veer westerly, with lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees.
Looking to tomorrow (Saturday) it said that it will be cool and bright with sunny spells developing during the morning, with scattered showers also and some will be heavy in western and northern parts, some possibly of hail.
There will be moderate to fresh westerly winds and afternoon temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees with Met Eireann promising the highest temperatures in eastern and southern areas.
It will be cool on Saturday night with moderate westerly winds and some showers continuing to affect northern and western areas but mostly dry elsewhere with clear periods and lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees, Met Eireann has said.
Sunday will be mostly dry in the east and south with some bright spells, however, it said that there will be rain at times in western and northern parts.
There will be moderate or fresh southerly winds and afternoon temperatures of 11 to 13 degrees, it said.
According to Met Eireann, it will become windy overnight on Sunday and for Monday with strong and gusty southerly winds, up to gale force on southern and western coasts.
Met Eireann weather outlook for next week
It will be generally cloudy and there will be rain on Monday, most especially in western and southern areas with drier periods at times in the east, but the rain will become more widespread later in the day and on Monday night, it said.
There will be afternoon highs on Monday of 13 or 14 degrees, it said.
According to Met Eireann, Tuesday will start windy but winds will moderate later. There will be further rain or showers, but drier brighter periods also, it said.
It will be unsettled through midweek with rather windy showery conditions on Wednesday, with the risk of some further wet and very windy conditions in places on Thursday, it said.
Drying conditions will be poor to moderate over the weekend and next week. Spraying conditions will be mostly poor due generally breezy and often wet conditions, Met Eireann has said.
