The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has confirmed that fewer than 300 applications are still to be processed under tranche 3 of the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3).

The latest data, published by the department, shows that 3,194 (84%) out of the 3,799 applications made under this tranche have been signed off on by officials.

245 applications have been rejected and 86 were withdrawn by the applicants.

TAMS 3 provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The department has also confirmed that 148 applications made under tranche 2 of TAMS 3 are still being processed.

8,108 approvals (89%) have been granted out of the 9,110 applications submitted as part of this tranche.

There are also 51 applications still outstanding under tranche 1 of the scheme. 7,270 (89%) out of 8,203 applications have been approved in the initial round of the scheme.

The department is yet to provide an update on the status of the 5,864 applications made by farmers for tranche 4.

DAFM is currently accepting applications for tranche 5 of TAMS 3 with the closing date due to fall on December 6.

Meanwhile, the latest data shows that under €200,000 was paid out to farmers under TAMS 2 last week, while €1,836,982 was issued in payments under TAMS 3.
