Irish author and film-maker, Elaine Heney, known for her hit series of Irish Connemara pony books, is set to debut a collection of educational farming and tractor tales at this year’s National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co. Laois, from September 17-19.

Designed to engage and educate young readers about the essential aspects of farming and the environment, the books aim to inspire and educate.

In this new series of ‘Paddy the Pony’ tales, the prolific Co. Tipperary author champions the crucial role of farmers, teaching children that farming is one of the most important professions.

“Farming is more than a profession; it’s a way of life that sustains our communities and preserves our heritage”, said Heney, who lives on a dry stock farm.

“Every tractor, every field, and every animal has a story to tell and I love bringing those stories to life.”

The bedtime stories which include ‘Paddy the Pony Goes Farming’, ‘Granny’s Got a Secret,’ and ‘Paddy the Pony Loves Tractors’, are packed with illustrations and set out to make learning about farming fun.

Heney will also launch three dyslexia friendly horse books at the championships, ‘The Forgotten Horse’, ‘Sinead and Strawberry’ and ‘The Galway Connemara.’

Utilising a special font designed to make reading easier for those with dyslexia, the author aims to open up a world of horse and pony adventures to those who might otherwise find reading challenging.
