Tirlán has today (Monday, October 19) confirmed the price it will pay suppliers for milk collected during September.

The processor said the milk price for September will be 40.08c/L, including VAT and the 0.5c/L Sustainability Action Payment.

This marks an increase of 1c/L on the August milk price.

Last month, Tirlán announceda milk price 'floor' for September, October, November and December supplies, as part of a commitment to pay at least 40.08c/L for the remainder of the year.

According to Tirlán, the actual average price paid by the processor for September creamery milk, based on delivered constituents, is 50.80c/L (including VAT).

Tirlán chair Ger O'Brien said that liquid milk premiums, seasonality bonuses and Autumn Calving Scheme payments on top of the 40.08c/L 'floor' price for the rest of the year would "reward those who incur the additional costs associated with supplying milk during the winter months".

O’Brien said protein market returns "remain relatively strong, but milk supply across the main dairy export regions continues to grow compared to the previous year".

He added that the Tirlán board will continue to monitor developments on a monthly basis.

Liquid milk

The Tirlán board recently approved a new five-year payment framework for participants in the Liquid Milk and Autumn Calving Schemes (ACS), effective from October 1, 2026.

This framwork includes an increase in the January seasonality payment from 7c/L to 9c/L.

The unconditional seasonality payments for December and February will remain at 5c/L.

Tirlán said the seasonality payments are available to all milk suppliers, provided milk quality criteria are met.

The package also provides:

  • A 13c/L liquid milk premium on contracted liquid milk supplies;
  • A 12c/L premium on contracted Autumn Calving Scheme (ACS) supplies.
