2020 was a good year overall for Irish sheep farmers, with lamb prices both at factory and mart level holding strong throughout the year.
Despite the disruption Covid-19 caused farmers, the one bright thing to come out of 2020 was the flying mart trade for all classes of sheep.
The final sheep sales of 2020 finished up strongly, with lamb prices, in particular butcher and factory lambs, holding firm.
"Its been a more positive year for sheep farmers with stronger prices a welcome and badly needed boost following on from a difficult 2019.
"It's been a good year for sheep farmers but not for all of them." That's according to Sean McNamara, the sheep chairperson of the (ICSA).
