Sheep
The downturn in the trade for lambs/hoggets since the turn of year has severely knocked confidence in the sector.
Lamb prices, since the early part of July, are back €21 on a 21kg carcass when the latest factory price cuts are taken into account.
The level of price cuts are not sustainable for farmers, with prices now not reflecting the production cost sheep farmers are enduring.
Cuts in lamb prices have been very disappointing and any further cuts will have a damaging affect on the store lamb trade.
