Weather in the coming days

On Thursday night (New Year’s Eve), remaining showers or longer spells of rain in eastern areas will gradually clear southeastwards overnight and it will become dry in many areas with clear spells, according to Met Éireann.

Showers will persist in parts of the west and northwest, however, with a continued risk of hail. Lows of -1° to 3° are expected. Northwesterly winds will fall light to moderate overnight, but they will continue fresh on coasts.

Friday (New Year’s Day) will be a dry, bright day for many areas, with scattered showers affecting coastal counties, especially to the north and northwest.

Friday night is expected to turn very cold, in clear spells with frost and ice forming. It will hold dry in many areas with showers mainly on northern and western coasts. Lowest temperatures of -2° to 2° with a light northwest breeze are forecasted.
