Two Status Yellow warnings have been issued by Met Éireann for the full country – one for snow/ice and the other for low temperatures – with both alerts coming into effect tonight (Wednesday, January 6).
The two alerts, issued simultaneously at 11:00am this morning, come with the country in the midst of an ongoing cold snap.
The first warning, a Status Yellow low temperature / ice warning for Ireland – will come into effect at 8:00pm this evening. It will remain in place until 10:00am tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a second Status Yellow snow/ice warning for Ireland will be valid from 11:00pm tonight through to 11:00am tomorrow.
Through this alert, Met Éireann cautions that snow and ice will lead to treacherous conditions. Some accumulations are possible, the forecaster adds.
In addition, the UK Met Office was issued a Yellow snow and ice warning for all six counties in Northern Ireland.
The Met Office warns that snow and ice could potentially lead to difficult travel conditions.
