It will be showery with sunny spells at times over the weekend and into next week, according to Met Eireann.

Tonight (Friday) will be mostly dry with just the risk of a light passing shower and temperatures between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius, Met Eireann says.

Tomorrow (Saturday) will be a largely dry day apart from a few light passing showers, which will mainly affect parts of the west and north, it says.

Saturday will be a cool, breezy day with highs of 10 to 14 degrees, mildest in the southeast with moderate west to northwest winds, Met Eireann says.

Met Eireann says that showers will affect western and northern coastal counties on Saturday night but elsewhere it should stay dry.

There will be lows of 6 to 8 degrees in moderate westerly winds on Saturday night, it says.

Sunday, it says, will be cool with a mixture of sunny spells and showers. Parts of the west and north will be most at risk of showers and they will turn heavy in the afternoon, it says.

Some of the showers will spread further eastwards and there will be highs of 11 to 14 degrees in moderate southwest winds, it says.

The showers will become more widespread on Sunday night and temperatures will fall to between 4 and 7 in moderate westerly winds, Met Eireann says.

Next week

Looking to next week, Monday will be a showery day with some sunny spells but most parts of the country will be affected by the showers, Met Eireann says.

It will be breezy on Monday in moderate to fresh westerly winds and it will feel cool with highs of 10 to 13 degrees, it says.

Met Eireann says that the showers will become confined to Atlantic coasts on Monday night, drier elsewhere with lows of 3 to 6 degrees.

Tuesday will be a similar day to Monday with sunny spells and showers, with highs of 10 to 14 degrees, it says.

The moderate to fresh west to northwest winds on Monday will make the day feel cool, it says.
