The 16th Golden Shears World Sheep Shearing and Wool Handling Championships will take place in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland from17 May to 25 May 2014.

The venue for the championships is a 25-acre site on the outskirts of town, adjacent to the Amber Springs Hotel, part of the Redmond Hotel Group.

With more than 30,000 visitors expected and a family-orientated festival of food, crafts, fashion and entertainment running in tandem with the main shearing competitions, the Golden Shears has something for everybody.

Some 6,000 international visitors are set to travel to Gorey to watch top names from more than 30 countries, including New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Canada, US, Norway, Sweden, Germany and the UK compete for the coveted Golden Shears Title. Donegal’s Ivan Scott, seven times All-Ireland Winner and current world-record holder, will no doubt be in contention for a top spot.
