Rosenallis GAA Club in Co. Laois is preparing to hold a truck and tractor run on Saturday, March 16 at 6:00p.m to help with fundraising to build a clubhouse.

The money raised will boost the coffers of the clubhouse fund, and donations will also be made to Laois Hospice and Rosenallis Active Retirement Group, as a way of giving back to the community for the support it has received.

Registration for the run will start at 4:30p.m, with an entry fee of €20 for tractors and €30 for trucks.

All vehicles taking part must have up to date tax and insurance, as well as adequate lighting, the organisers said.

A live draw of the club’s raffle for a showroom fresh New Holland tractor, or €100,000 cash to raise funds for the clubhouse, will take place that night.

Tickets for the raffle which was launched last July, cost €50 each.

“As we have gotten so much support from not only from the village locals, but from across the globe, we decided to hold a night where everyone was welcome to come and help us celebrate the success of the draw,” said Rosenallis GAA joint secretary, Carmel Dunne.

“We have music by the Irish House Party band and plenty of food and drink, and performances by Gorman’s School of Irish Dancing. This will take place at Hyland Transport’s yard,” she said.

The MC on the day will be Rock on Paddy.

“We are really looking forward to seeing everyone coming to enjoy what has been an exceptional fundraiser for Rosenallis GAA,” said Carmel.

The new clubhouse is expected to cost €450,000+, she said.

“We have a Portakabin that we have been using for the past number of years. In the past, a lot of money and effort went into getting our two pitches up to grade and I’m very glad to say we now have one of the best pitches around,” she added.
