Rubber mats for slatted sheds are set to be included in the list of eligible investments in the TAMS II farm building grant scheme.
The investment it was included in the Programme for Government agreed between Fine Gael and a host on independent TD’s last week.
Grant aid investments under the TAMS II scheme is as high as 60% for eligible young farmers with grant aid of 40% available generally for other farmers.
The programme for government also confirmed that subject to EU amendment approval, the new Government will expand the TAMS farm building schemes to include rainwater harvesting systems.
It comes as last week the now former Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney confirmed that Ireland had received approval to provide grant aid for sheep fencing and tillage sector investments under the new TAMS II schemes.
Speaking in the Dail last week the Minister said he was delighted to announce that he has received informal approval from the Commission for the inclusion of a specific scheme of investment for Tillage Farmers and also for the inclusion of sheep fencing as an investment item under the existing TAMS Schemes.
It is now likely that both sheep fencing and the new tillage specific scheme will be available in the next tranche set to open in later in the summer.
