The red genes competing in Dairy Ring Two were a real crowd-pleaser at the recent Tullamore Show and FBD National Livestock show.

Showgoers lined the ring throughout the day as competitions took place for Jerseys, Dairy Shorthorns, and Fleckviehs.

The spectacle was quite a watch, with fierce competition across the three category breeds.

Jerseys

The Jersey competition was as hot and heavy as always, with some of the finest stock in the country making their way to the ring.

Judge Michael McNamara of the Barna herd in Co. Cork then had the difficult task of choosing his FBD National Livestock Show Jersey Champion sponsored by Kiernan Milling.

Anticipation built around the ring, before he ultimately named Rathard Kasey EX92 as his champion cow.

Rathard Kasey EX92 also received the award of best udder, which was also sponsored by Kiernan Milling.

Judge McNamara named Daniel and Emer Curtin's Euro Joel Prance as the Reserve Champion, while Eamonn McLoughney's Ballythomas Gorgeous was named as Honourable Mention.

Dairy Shorthorn

Stewart Baxter of the Erne Ayrshire herd in Co. Antrim had the difficult job of judging a fierce Dairy Shorthorn competition.
