Agriland Media Group is set to deliver a combination of both exclusive livestream panel discussions with industry leaders, farmers, ministers and also podcasts focusing on key issues for farm families from the National Ploughing Championships (NPC) this week.

The championships which will take place from tomorrow (Tuesday, September 17) until Thursday, (September 19)  at Ratheniska, Co. Laois are expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors.

Agriland is the official livestream partner for the NPC and from 1:00p.m each day at Block 3, Row 15, Stand 289 we will be hosting a series of live panel discussions and podcasts which are free to attend.

The livestream and podcasts will also be available on YouTubeAgriland website or app, and Facebook.

We want to make sure that visitors of all ages can be part of the conversation at this year’s National Ploughing Championships and are invited to get involved in the podcasts each day.

Our team of reporters will also be out and about hearing from families, exhibitors, politicians, industry leaders and many more.

Visitors to Ploughing 2024 can comfortably watch all the live panel discussions and podcasts in person at the Agriland tent and there will also be an opportunity for visitors to charge their phones/devices if they need to.

Anyone who visits the Agriland stand at this year’s NPC can also enter a competition to win the use of a Merlo Multifarmer Telescopic Handler for a year.

The lucky winner will have the free use of a Merlo Multifarmer telescopic handler from mid-January to mid-December 2025 or for 1,000 recorded operating hours, whichever comes first.

The machine is a telescopic handler equipped with a three-point rear linkage, rear mechanical PTO, and a hydraulic pick-up hitch, making it ideal for handling, towing, and light field tasks.

What’s on Day 1, Tuesday

Agriland editor Stella Meehan will kick off the first panel discussions 1:00p.m.with the presidents of the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA), Francie Gorman, Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers’ Association (ICMSA), Denis Drennan, and Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers’ Association (ICSA), Sean McNamara.

Then we will host a “Let’s talk tillage” panel with the chair of the IFA national grain committee, Kieran McEvoy, chair of the Irish Grain Growers Group, (IGGG) Bobby Miller and ICSA tillage chair Gavin Carberry.

We will also be out and about talking to visitors and exhibitors at the the 2024 National Ploughing Championships (NPC) and seeing exactly what Day 1 has to offer.

Later on Tuesday afternoon we will host a Farm Finance live podcast at approximately 2:00p.m that will feature AIB’s head of agriculture, food and fishing, Donal Whelton, Bank of Ireland’s head of agri, Eoin Lowry and the chair of Cultivate Credit Unions agri finance, Joe Healy.

During our live podcasts we will invite members of the audience to get involved in the discussions and provide their valuable insight and opinion on key farming issues.

Our final live panel on Tuesday will feature a one-on-one interview with the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue.
