Met Éireann has issued another Status Yellow weather warning for ice across the entire country for tonight (Saturday, March 2).

The national forecaster warned that icy stretches will develop, particularly in Leinster and Ulster, as overnight temperatures drop below freezing

This will lead to hazardous travelling conditions on roads, while paths and cycleways will be slippery.

The warning will come into force at 8:00p.m today and will remain in place until 9:00a.m on Sunday (March 3).

Met Éireann said that there will be sunny spells and scattered showers today. Those showers will mainly be of rain but some may fall as hail, sleet or snow.

In the southwest, west and northwest, there will be fresh to strong northerly winds, which will be gusty at times, elsewhere winds will be light to moderate. Highest daytime temperatures of 4° to 7°C.

It will be cold tonight with frost and icy stretches developing, as temperatures dip to between -2° and 3°.

There will be a mixture of clear spells and scattered showers. Again, most of these will be of rain but a few hail, sleet or snow showers are possible in places.

The west to northwest winds will be light to moderate, fresh at times in the west.

Sunday will be cold with sunny spells and scattered showers of rain or hail which will become more isolated later in the day. Daytime temperatures will reach highs of 7° to 10° in a light to moderate west to northwest wind.

Met Éireann has said that the coming week will be changeable with showers and spells of rain.

The rainfall amounts are currently projected to range around average or slightly above, generally between 10 and 40mm.

After the recent cold snap, milder weather is forecast for next week with mean air temperatures of 5° to 9°.

Although soil temperatures are expected to fall slightly, they will still remain above average.
