A senior manager of Macra Agricultural Skillnet, which is under the umbrella of young farmers’ association Macra na Feirme is set to depart for pastures new, Agriland understands.

Brigid Quigley, who is currently the network manager for Macra Agricultural Skillnet, is set to leave the organisation.

It is understood that Quigley is leaving Macra to take up a role with the Plant Variety Development Office (PVDO) and the Irish Seed Trade Association (ISTA).

Macra Agricultural Skillnet

Established by the young farmers’ organisation in 2015, Macra Agricultural Skillnet is a network that serves members involved in farming and a range of agricultural businesses.

With a stated objective to “drive upskilling and sustainability on all levels in the industry”, the network develops and delivers a programme of subsidised training events, further education and development opportunities.

Macra Agricultural Skillnet supports Macra na Feirme clubs and regions, the organisation’s Young Famer Development Groups (YFDGs) and discussion groups in delivering and part funding local training needs.

These include workshops, information sessions and technical seminars.

In addition, the organisation works with private companies to deliver education and training opportunities to as many enterprises in the industry as possible.

The network can deliver courses on request and welcomes contact from Macra members, member companies and the wider agri sector.
