All of Kerrygold butter will be produced and packed at the new state-of-the art complex on the Dairygold Mitchelstown’s site in the coming years.
Earlier this year the Irish Dairy Board made the announcement that it was building a new butter plant in Mitchelstown. The new plant is set to support the development of the Kerrygold brand in a range of packing formats.
Speaking at the Dairygold site on Friday, Kevin Lane, CEO of the Irish Dairy Board said the new site will be a centre of excellence and will enable the IDB fulfil its ambitions for the Irish dairy industry.
“Our ambition is for Irish dairy to become a key player on the world stage. This will become the global home of a new Kerrygold manufacturing and packaging plant for brand.”
He said he hopes the 2016 season will see the new plant up and running.
According to the IDB the plant will provide full supply chain integrity, will centralise NPD and innovation capability for Kerrygold and will be a dedicated Customer Centre of Excellence for the Irish Dairy Board.
The Taoiseach Enda Kenny described it as very exciting that every block for Kerrygold will come from the site.
